    Innovative Sunday School

Everyone is invited to help and or participate in the Sunday School program. We are sure the children will enjoy the format. It is set-up more like Vacation Bible School format, using the "Site Rotation" style. And adults & youth can help in the teaching, the crafts, or the music.

    News

Recently featured in some of our community newspapers:
St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Delaware has developed an all-new Sunday School program. Instead of the usual classrooms with worksheets and throw-away crafts, they have developed a curriculum that engages the children and gives them something to remind them about God's love.
"Our Vacation Bible School has always been well attended," says Rev. Dale Critchley, St. Paul's pastor, "and the kids can't wait for the next chance to go. Our Board of Education was talking about it, and someone said, 'Why can't we do that with Sunday School?' We couldn't see any reason why not, except that we couldn't find a curriculum that worked that way, so we decided to write our own." A volunteer with a Lutheran teaching degree from the congregation writes the lessons, which use story books, skits and games, as well as group Bible reading, and the Board, along with volunteers from the congregation, develops crafts that the kids will want to keep. The hour begins with an opening that is styled after a radio program, "WGOD" (as in "w/ God" because God is always with us), complete with music sung by the children. Splitting into two groups, one group goes to Bible Class while the other works on crafts. They finish by coming together again for a closing, which is similar to the opening. The openings, closings, and crafts are all developed by volunteers from the congregation.
So far, crafts have included a banner, metal embossing of Martin Luther's Seal, a star made with a string wrapped between nails on a wooden plaque, and a quilt made with the assistance of the St. Paul's Lutheran Women's Society. The quilt was auctioned off at the church's annual bazaar.

    Crafters Needed

Do you have a special talent? We will be looking for you to help us with great craft projects planned for the new Sunday school program. If you have a talent in woodworking, sewing, metals, or any other crafty things - let the Board of Education know. We will like you to help us work with the children on that particular Sunday when your talent is needed. Thank you!

    Curriculum Crew

We encourage all teachers, helpers, people with crafty ideas, or anyone with any ideas, to join us for our curriculum meeting, the first Tuesday of each month at 7PM in the fellowship hall.

Need a ride, or can you provide a ride?

    We need a new name!

This Sunday School is so unlike any Sunday School you've seen before, it should be called something else! What should it be called?
