The Lamb is a symbol of Christ who is the Lamb of God and the Lamb of Sacrifice.  As the Lamb of God, He takes away the sin of the world (Isaiah 53:6-7; John 1:29).  Here the Lamb is pictured with the victorious banner.  The victorious banner is the symbol for victory over death and is carried by the resurrected Christ.  When the Lamb is pictured with the banner, it is the symbol of the Lamb who was slain but who has risen victoriously from the dead and who reigns both now and eternally (Revelation 5:12; 7:9-10)
