ST. PAUL'S LUTHERAN CHURCH
a congregation of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod
Jesus is standing at the head of a table with His disciples. He is in the act of celebrating the Lord’s Supper.
What’s Taking Place:
The Lord’s Supper replaces the sacramental meals of the Old Testament. In the Lord’s Supper Jesus is initiating a sacrament consisting of His true body and blood of which His disciples will partake for the forgiveness of their sins. The Old Testament foreshadowing has been replaced by the New Testament fulfillment.
Chalice and Wheat. The chalice represents the cup which Jesus used. The wheat represents the bread.
